Vocabulary 7 – Gramática inglesa

Un tema muy importante en el habla cotidiana es la comida (food). En el post de hoy vamos a ver cuales son los términos más utilizados para fruta en inglés. En los siguientes posts seguiremos con verdura y otros alimentos.

Words to describe fruit

Ahora veremos como compramos frutas en el mercado:

Ejemplo:

1-    A pound/kilo of apples, oranges.

2-    A bunch of grapes, bananas.

Para el post de hoy hemos elegido un tema interesante, son hobys y pasatiempos. Ahora veremos cuales son las palabras más usadas relacionadas con este tema.

Words to describe hobbies and pastimes 

Ejemplo:

1-    Do you watch tv every day? No, I prefer jogging.

Ejemplo:

2-    Cycling is good for health, remember that!

3-    Harry is playing the piano and his sister is reading.

Vocabulary 4 – Gramatica inglesa

En el blog de hoy veremos algunas palabras que se utilizan para designar oficios. Hemos seleccionado las más frecuentes, seguro que conocéis la mayoría de ellas.

Words to describe daily routines 

Ejemplo:

1-    A fireman tries to put out fires in shops, houses, etc.

Ejemplo:

2-    A lawyer helps you with legal problems, e.g. if you want to get divorced or make a will.

3-    A postman delivers letters and parcels to your home.

Como siempre, en este blog intentamos ayudaros con el tema del vocabulario en inglés. Hoy trataremos el tema del carácter humano y os proporcionaremos las palabras que sirven para describir a las personas.

Words to describe person´s character

*Todos estos adjetivos se utilizan para el género femenino en la misma forma.

Ejemplo:

1-    He looks like a film-star. Every girl in the office wants to go out with him. He is very handsome.

Ejemplo:

2-    She always says “Please” and “Thank you”. She is a very polite child.

Ejemplo:

3-    She doesn´t like meeting strange people and usually feels nervous and uncomfortable at parties. She is extremely shy.

Verbs to describe daily routines 

Ejemplo:

1-    I usually wake up at 7.00 when my alarm clock goes off. I turn it off straight away and then usually just lie there in bed for another five or ten minutes before I finally wake up. I go to the bathroom, have a shower, brush my teeth and then get dressed.

Ejemplo:

2-    I usually have breakfast – cornflakes, toast, a boiled egg and coffee – at about 7.40. While I eat I normally listen to the news on the radio. I leave home at about 7.50. I always pop into Mr Brown the newsagent´s on my way to the station to buy a daily newspaper.

Vocabulary 1 – Gramatica inglesa

El vocabulario es el conjunto de palabras que forman parte de un idioma específico, conocidas por una persona u otra entidad (como un diccionario). La adquisición del vocabulario (tanto en el primer idioma como en los segundos y/o extranjeros), es un proceso muy complejo. El primero es el vocabulario que el sujeto entiende sin ayuda o con muy poca ayuda, pero que no es capaz de utilizar autónomamente. El segundo, es el vocabulario que el sujeto comprende sin problemas, pero que además, es capaz de utilizar cuando lo necesita y sin necesidad de ayuda.

En este post os damos algunos ejemplos de vocabulario en inglés que os pueden ser de gran utilidad en la vida cotidiana.

The family 

Ejemplo:

1- Clive Moon married Rose Harris in September 1940. They had two children- a boy called Barry and a girl called Cynthia. Barry met his wife, Nancy Thomas, at university and they got married five years later. In 1974, their daughter, Amanda, was born. The same year, Barry´s sister, Cynthia, met her husband, Paul Baston. She asked her brother, Barry, to be best-man at their wedding.

Ejemplo:

2- Not long after the wedding, Nancy and Barry had a son. They called him Collin. Barry´s parents, Rose and Clive, were thrilled. Now they had two grandchildren. Soon they would have three. In 1982, their second grandson, Peter, was born. This also meant that Barry was now an uncle and Nancy an aunt. Both were very fond of their new nephew, Peter, and pleased that their own children now had a cousin.
